Have spent the last few days gingerly tiptoeing on the new clover to pull out a billion baby trees. The roots go down surprisingly far already, even though the seedlings themselves are only a few inches tall. Must yank them out before they get into the fancy-dancy new septic system.
Note to self: next fall cover the entire yard with landscape fabric to catch the stupid maple keys before they can take root. Like spreading nets under olive trees.
On the plus side, the clover is dainty and cute and starting to fill in nicely. I'll have to re-seed a few places where my feet crushed the poor things, but in general I'm very pleased with how it's coming along.
